Beds can be a problem for some people, but research shows a new bed could help keep them comfortable.

Researchers from the University of Toronto and the University at Buffalo found that a foam mattress made from materials such as polypropylene or polypropene foam helped keep the bed cooler, more comfortable and more effective in keeping people cool in hot weather.

The study is published in the journal Nature Communications.

“What you’re doing with these materials is creating a kind of insulation that you can use to prevent the temperature from going above 80 degrees Celsius,” said lead researcher and graduate student David K. Williams.

The foam mattress could also help protect people from being trapped inside in cold temperatures by keeping them from overheating and making them more susceptible to frostbite.

Williams said that foam mattresses are the same kind of material used to make beds for people in the U.S. and the U
