Halifax’s Best Housewarming Gifts for First Home opens its doors to the public on Sunday.
The online store, which has a store in the Old Town, will be a hub for the local homegood community.
“This is a really exciting time for our neighbourhood and our city,” said Tim Macdonald, who co-owns the store with his wife, Sarah.
“We’ve been able to really grow in terms of the amount of people coming to visit us and our ability to sell locally.
We’ve just had a really good Christmas, and it’s really important to us to make sure that we’re really bringing people back to our neighbourhood.”
The store will sell everything from handmade items to traditional homegood gifts.
“For the first time, we’ve really expanded into a space that people who live in the neighbourhood really want to visit,” Macdonald said.
“There’s just so much new and exciting things to see.
The Macdonalds opened the store last fall. “
You can actually walk into the store and be in a whole new experience.”
The Macdonalds opened the store last fall.
They say they’ve spent about $300,000 on renovations and expansions to make it even better.
The Macdougas say they have been approached by local homeowners and have a lot of ideas for how they could benefit from the store.
“They’re really open to that idea and they’re very open to ideas that can really help them make sure they’re in the best place to be, to stay in touch with the neighbourhood and to help build that neighbourhood,” Macdouases said.
The new store is located at 1325 East Main St., near the Old Market.
